Christmas and the holidays are meant for gathering family and friends around the table, to celebrate the season, to renew and recharge our spirits. If you’re the host, you want your guests well-fed and entertained. At the same time, you’d also like to spend time with your family or friends and not stay too long in the kitchen, stressed and anxious.

To make it easy for you, whether it’s Christmas, New Year’s or any family get-together, I’ve put together an array of favorite Filipino dishes which I have often cooked for my family. These were featured by Positively Filipino, the premiere online magazine. During the month of December, The Happy Home Cook shared my recipes – some from my new cookbook My Mother’s Philippine Recipes and from How to Cook Philippine Desserts. Other dishes are from my list of readers’ favorites from here on the blog.

These are rich, scrumptious and relatively easy to prepare. Best of all, your family and friends will always remember the good food, the fun and the memories.

Estofado de Vaca inspired by Senor Alba de Manila, Mom’s Lobster Thermidor and Almond Jelly with Lychees Dessert.

For the complete recipes see The Happy Home Cook page on Positively Filipino.

Here are more Christmas and holiday recipes your family and friends are sure to savor.

Pork Bagnet, Ensaladang Labong and the classic Cathedral Windows Gelatin dessert.

Some more classic Filipino favorite dishes which my own family enjoys during the holidays and often all year round: Bibingka, mom’s Carne Asado Kapampangan and Pancit Sotanghon Noodles with Shrimps, Ham and Vegetables.
