At Christmas we need a more efficient way to cook for family and friends who will come to the traditional Noche Buena feast or Christmas parties. To help you, my latest cookbook of Filipino recipes using North America’s popular Instant Pot appliance just released:  Instant Filipino Recipes: My Mother’s Traditional Philippine Food In a Multicooker Pot. Three of my Instant Pot recipes Beef Calderetta, Guinataang Sitaw and Kalabasa and Leche Flan were featured on The Happy Home Cook of Positively Filipino, the premiere online magazine.

For dessert: Instant Pot Leche Flan

After spending long hours in the kitchen preparing the main courses for the big family gathering, the last thing you want to do is toil several hours more making dessert. My Instant Pot Leche Flan cooks in less time than usual. This classic custard dessert comes out rich and creamy with the caramel syrup dribbling down the sides on every slice.

For an entrée: Instant Pot Beef Caldereta

If you’re looking for a faster way to cook and enjoy hearty beef entrees, my Instant Pot Beef Calderetta is what you need. Now you can prepare the familiar tomato sauce-based stew in half the time and the chunks of beef come out tender, succulent and fork-tender. With the Instant Pot, you can cut cooking time without losing the soul of classic Pinoy dishes the way mom used to make them.

For the vegetable side dish: Instant Pot Guinataang Sitaw and Kalabasa

This classic Filipino vegetable dish of sitaw (long green beans) and kalabasa (kabocha squash) cooks in minutes simmered in a rich blend of coconut milk and seasonings. You can free up space on the stove top and oven with just one appliance and these Filipino recipes that cook quickly in the Instant Pot. This will allow you to walk away and do other things that need your attention during the holidays.

What is an Instant Pot?

An Instant Pot is an intelligent, pressurized multicooker with different multi-functions: an electric pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, steamer, yogurt-maker, a saute/browning pan, a warming pan and lots more. An Instant Pot can work both as a high intensity pressure cooker and a slow cooker. The high pressure cooker settings allow you to cook dishes in minutes and cuts cooking time in nearly half. The slow cooker settings give you the option of cooking the meal while you’re away from the kitchen doing other stuff.

And if you’re still undecided about buying an Instant Pot or want to know the difference between an Instant Pot, a slow cooker or your grandmother’s old pressure cooker, my good friend Namiko Chen of Just One Cookbook answers that question – click here. Plus, Namiko gives you some more neat Instant Pot recipes your family will love. I know because I’ve cooked a lot of her recipes.

All my books are sold worldwide on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle format. They make great gifts for fans of Filipino home cooking.
